"Camryn is a rambunctious, sassy, and opinionated little lady who just turned 6 as she finished kindergarten. Cam has always been healthy, happy, and a jokester- making her family laugh constantly. That’s why when she became lethargic in April, her parents became concerned. Shortly after a whirlwind of testing and blood transfusions, the Summa-Barbour family was rocked by Camryn’s diagnosis of B-Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. After a stint at the hospital and port surgery, Camryn began her first round of chemotherapy. With this diagnosis came a real reprogramming for the family. Mom took a leave from teaching to care for Camryn full time. Vacations were canceled and home became their only destination. Throughout the first few months, there have been ups and downs of treatment. Unplanned trips to the emergency room, short local road trips to reboot, days of nausea, tears, and so many needles; but through it all, Camryn has been so strong. We all look forward to the day when our happy, sassy, healthy girl is back full time, but for now, the family is so grateful for the support when they need it most. Bills are piling up and stress is at an all time high. The money given by the Daniela Conte Foundation toward our mortgage will help us to feel like we can devote our full attention to our daughters and to keeping our family unit intact. Thank you so much for what you have done for us!"
